Our Trip To Glacier, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks with Kids - Part 1
Yellowstone was always in my mind for years now. The first time we planned to visit it, we gave up the idea as Pari was too little and scared to be with the wildlife. As years passed by.. time and time again we thought about it, but never ended up booking tickets. But this time it was different, May be because being cooked up in home due to pandemic, was the cause.
During the month of May, just as the summer break for the girls started, sashi brought up the topic of vacay to Yellowstone again. This time reluctantly i said lets go for it. But somethings changed, may be it was us or may be it was something in the air. Flights tickets, Hotel bookings, Car rentals everything fell into place. We booked some random dates for September, and thought even if the school is functional (i mean not virtual and face to face) lets take some time off to visit it.
We had months to prepare and pack for our trip.. But we took our own sweet time to prep. As the dates closed by, we learned that out of the 9 days of travel and visit, Pari has Fall break. So we only have to take off for 3 working days and stay quarantined (Virtual learner) for 2 days from school. Thats not bad..
If you ask me, i would have taken her off from school for complete 9 days.. its not that she is prepping for SAT or GMAT exams.. She has been only doing 2 part additions and subtractions in school.. Ruhi's day care never troubled us (as long as we paid fees for the missing days or weeks).
So here we are, on the day of travel.. Our Itenary was as follows. Fly to Bozeman Airport via Denver.
Atlanta -> Denver -> Bozeman
While we were on transit waiting to board our flight in Denver to Bozeman. Once we Boarded our Bozeman flight, about 20 mins after we settled in, Our Flight Captain, announces that there's some bird debris in our engine and technicians are called in to validate if this Flight can fly and land safely.
Unfortunately all the passengers were asked to unboard the flight as it was not safe to travel. But... here's the silver lining !!!! we were provided another flight by Delta with in couple of minutes, which was ready to take off.. How cool..!
But this was just the beginning.. We were delayed due to a crash on the road (pretty brutal).. Sashi did check if both the drivers were alive. But the damage was catastrophic, so we had to reroute again..
Needless to mention that Ruhi also had a gag and throwed up in the car.... Another break to clean her up, wash her up and making sure the car doesnt smell was the task. Because Pari and Me are so sensitive to smell that we gag when we smell something gross.. even the thought or idea of someone gagging makes us gag.. (Trust me..)..
we finally reached our Hotel and checked in around 9:30 PM. Girls were so happy to roll over the bed instead of car seats.. We had a lethargic day.. But as they say, "ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL"..
